BACKGROUND of LI
 
Li Keqiang is the Vice-Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, and the 7th ranked member of the Politburo Standing Committee. Vice-Premier Li’s official portfolio includes development, price controls, finance, climate change and macroeconomic management. In 2010, he was appointed Director of the State Food Safety Commission. Vice-Premier Li was born in 1955 in Anhui Province, and studied law at Beijing’s prestigious Peking University and later acquired a master’s degree and PhD in Economics. Between 1998-2004, Vice-Premier Li was Governor of Henan, Henan’s CPC Party Chief and became Party Secretary of Liaoning Province in 2004.
